First Race 2016 Snetterton
Here are the on the spot reports from the start of the 2016 Race season, from Snetterton in Norfolk this Easter Weekend. Racing was Sunday and Monday 27th/28th March 16
Sunday Ray............... Hmmm, where do I start. A challenging day today. Towed off the track during qualifying, breakdown traced to a broken crank sensor. Managed to fix before the race, to start mid field. Race started OK, 2 laps in developed a misfire, shortly followed by a low voltage warning. Not what you want to see when it is hammering down with near zero visibility. Turned off heated screen, wipers, headlights, still had misfire. Dash showing 10v . Struggled on for over half the race to eventually retire. Post race, fixed broken wire on alternator, and booked in for race tomorrow. We'll have to wait and see how it pans out. Can't be worse than today........
Monday Sharon.......... First weekend racing of the new racing season was on Sunday, new car, new engine so it is going to be interesting. It was challenging weather conditions this weekend, certainly for driving and for the spectators too. Disappointing day yesterday as due to mechanical problems we did not finish the race.
Car all sorted and we were raring to go today although weather conditions in qualifying were atrocious, never seen wind and rain quite like it and very few people actually braved the conditions, but there we were standing on the pit wall, must be mad! Good qualifying session and then to the race. Thankfully the storm seemed to have passed and the track was drying out. Good exciting race and Ray finished 2nd overall and 1st in class. Excellent driving Ray and good to watch, well done
Monday Ray................ Super day today after the misery of yesterday's gremlins. With the support of my posse who turned out in torrential rain and wind during qualifying, we put the Fiesta in 3rd for the start of the race. Finished 2nd overall, 1st in class, 15 seconds behind an E30 BMW with a JCW Mini snapping 0.2 seconds off my tail! Happy days ? ?
